COLLEGE FOOTBALL RECRUITING

FOOTBALL SCHOLARSHIPS

College football is by far the biggest and most popular sport at the college level. Universities and colleges are not only renowned for their research programs and academics, but also for their success on the football field. Playing college football is a great opportunity, and if you’re serious about being recruited it’s important to get your name out there to college coaches.

If you can land a football scholarship then you not only pick up a full ride scholarship at the NCAA D1 FBS level, but also join the traditions and spirit of the school. Football can open many doors for you both on and off the field, but if you do not concentrate on your high school academics, GPA and core courses you will not be considered. College football recruiting is very competitive; we can help you gain an advantage over the competition.

NCAA

There are a whopping 665 sponsored NCAA football programs. NCAA Division one (DI) is divided into two subdivisions. The Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) has 129 affiliated football schools that can allocate 85 scholarships per football program. These are full-ride scholarships.

Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) has 122 affiliated football schools that can each allocate 63 football scholarships. These are equivalency scholarships which mean that the coach can break up a full scholarship into partial scholarships to be shared among more players if they choose to. In most cases FCS colleges divide the 63 scholarships between 85 players.

168 NCAA Division two (D2) schools can award 36 scholarships per team. These are equivalency awards. 246 NCAA Division three (D3) schools play competitive football but there are no athletic scholarships. Other forms of financial aid may be available.

NAIA

84 colleges affiliated with the NAIA offer college football as a scholarship sport. There are 12 scholarships allocated per football team. Football is classed as an equivalency sport in the NAIA.

NJCAA

68 community colleges sponsor intercollegiate football. The scholarship limit is 24. Football is a head-count sport at JUCO level.

How to improve your chance of being recruited:

  1. Strong Grades. College football coaches want to recruit student athletes with strong grades who will remain academically eligible throughout their collegiate career. The best way to show this to a coach is to have good High School grades.
  2. Attend Camps and Combines. Football camps and combines, especially those run by the colleges are a wonderful way to gain exposure. Football coaches, scouts and recruiters are nearly always in attendance.
  3. Create an Athletic Recruiting Profile. Let us help you connect with college football coaches and gain the exposure you need to get recruited
  4. Email and contact college coaches. Emailing football coaches is the best way to make contact and the best way to jump start your recruiting process.
