Personal Highlights

I was a dual-sport athlete in high school (soccer and rowing). I chose to attend the University of Wisconsin, row for their Varsity Lightweight rowing program, and enroll as an Engineering student. After one semester, I have realized that Wisconsin is not a good fit for what I want to do when I graduate. I plan on transferring from the University of Wisconsin after completing my Spring 2019 semester.

Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

Academically, I am a strong student. I am a good athlete with good grades and high standardized test scores. I feel that the transition from high school to college will be an easy transition. I have proven that I can consistently maintain a 4.5 GPA, volunteer,balance family and social life, and also play varsity high school soccer and club soccer.
On the soccer field I am respectful, coachable, and hard-working. In my opinion, being a respectful player is critical in being a good teammate. I respect the game of soccer. I strive to maintain my values as I play to win. I strive to be a good teammate. I strive to all improve how coachable I am. I strive to add to the team's chemistry.
Example of my daily goals are as follows:
To be thankful to my teammates.

Be open to honest feedback.
Be willing to work hard.
Be willing to change bad habits.
Be humble.
Finally, setting an example and being a good sport is also important in being a good teammate. For me, sportsmanship is an important part of college sports. Things like helping a player from the other team off of the ground may not seem important, but other teams appreciate my sportsmanship as well as my own teammates.

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

I am one of the starting center backs for the Cleveland Ohio Alliance U15 MRL team, which is a pool team comprised with players from Cleveland Soccer Academy (CSA Impact), my club, and Ohio Premier (OP). This spring season, my team has already attended tournaments such as the Adidas Blue Chip College Showcase and the Crossroads of America College Showcase.
My position of center back and my years of playing MRL soccer have taught me many things. Attack and defend: two excellent traits of any defender. As center back, I also need to lead my team's defense. I feel that I am a great defender and excellent leader; I am able to read and anticipate attacking methods, lead my team to pursue and chase the ball immediately, close down the attacking space, smother the attacker’s reaction time, intercept passes aft, steal the ball back, and quickly initiate the attack.
Off the field, my volunteering has offered many areas to advance my leadership skills. During the organization of River Run for a Cause 2016, my leadership skills were put to the test. Just a few of the many jobs I performed were: 1. solicit local businesses; 2. meet with civic leaders; 3. organize community volunteers for race day; 4. apply to the state for my business license; 5. apply to the US government for non-profit status.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

I try to lead by example and also follow the "you are what you eat" rule. I exercise daily, try to eat whole foods, eat at least 5 fruits and vegetables each day, and get at least 8 hours of sleep each day. Each day I try to get a healthy balance of academic improvement and athletic improvement.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

I am in Key Club at my school and I volunteer often.
I am the sole organizer of a 5k race called "River Run For a Cause." This year's race was dedicated to a young Rocky River soccer player who died suddenly from a brain aneurysm. The race has donated part of its proceeds towards an academic scholarship for a Rocky River High School student and a donation towards the Cerebrovascular Research Fund. As the name suggests, the race will be ran each year and will add different causes with each year.
