*I am the second of five boys in my family.
*My mom (Heather Melzer) holds 3 NCAA Track & Field records and has been racing as a member of the USA Triathlon Team for nine years.
*My oldest brother, Casey Melzer (6'3 - 200lb), swims for 2015, 2016, and 2017 National Champions, The University of Texas Longhorns. He was invited and competed in the 2016 US Olympic Trials. Casey is an International Global Studies major and a 2016 & 2017 Academic All-American Athlete.

  • My focus is to attend a great academic school and to play Football at the highest level I can. I will pay the price on and off the field to fulfill my dream!

Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

I have played football since I was 6 years old. I love the GAME - I love the FRIENDSHIPS - I love to COMPETE.

It has always been my DREAM!

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

As a son, brother, Christian, and football player, I always try to lead by example. I listen and learn from those I can learn from and lead to foster development to those I can help.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Everything I've done in my life has led me to unbelievable opportunities. I am blessed to have family and coaches that have guided me towards understanding the importance of education, work ethic, and humility. I study and train to have the opportunity to play at the highest level possible.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

There is no better feeling than knowing I'm contributing to people that need help. I am both blessed and proud that the Pittsburgh Food Bank allows me to step in and help feed the hungry I feel like a am really making a difference in my community.
